What is Harrods famous for?

Recognised for its celebrity-endorsed sales, food hall and signature green bags, Harrods is one of the world's largest and most famous department stores. With more than a million square feet (90,000 sq m) of space, Harrods sells luxury and everyday items across seven floors and 330 departments.

When did Harrods start?

Henry Charles Harrod founded it as a grocery store in 1849. The enterprise expanded in the late 1800s, and many new departments were added. The store’s owners expanded customer service to provide for every need and once boasted that Harrods had “the best circulating library in London.”

Why did Harrods get its name?

The name Harrods department store was chosen to stay because of the store’s reputation. Even the building itself was renovated once again, and that version is much closer to the store we have today.
